CARMA is an all-volunteer, registered charity operating in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia since 2005 and a registered charity since 2007.  Our purpose is to humanely reduce numbers and suffering in feral cat populations and to assist individuals and communities struggling with cat colonies.

CARMA focuses on feral population control through a Trap-Neuter-Return program.  Our Foster/Adoption program allows us to place animals unable to survive colony conditions.

Our program is carried out through community-based chapters.  Click on the appropriate chapter name to the left to find about activity in your area.

Our goal is to bring CARMA to every community in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia where feral cats exist.  We want to help you to help them. Interested in helping? Contact us today.

A different kind of Cat Rescue

Homeless cat populations in the Maritimes, as elsewhere in Canada and around the world, have reached crisis proportions. Feral cats are an integral part of a global humane issue, but helping ferals requires a different approach.

CARMA is a program, not a place. CARMA is not a shelter and is not involved in animal control. We cannot take in unwanted pets nor can we handle complaints about animal abuse or nuisance animals. These services may be provided by municipalities or animal shelters. Cases of animal abuse, abandonment or neglect should be reported to the provincial SPCA (1-877-722-1522 in NB; 1-888-703-7722 in NS)

CARMA rules do not permit assistance to pets or owned animals.
